Hey, it’s Cho, and I recently received the most lovely gift from Paula’s Choice that included 3 bottles of their 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant as well as two products that I hadn’t tried previously. If you missed that unboxing, you can watch it here! To keep the cycle of positivty moving forward, I’ve decided to give away TWO bottles of the BHA! Check out those details and how to enter the giveaway by clicking here. Ok! Now that we’ve got that house cleaning out of the way, let’s talk about today’s blog post: SKINCARE FOR GAMERS! NANI?! I never thought there would be a day where I’d discuss both video gaming and skincare in the same post, but here we are.

If you frequent this blog enough, you know why developing a skincare routine is important for everyone. If not, you have some reading to do. But I’m talking specifically to my fellow e-boys and gamer girls here. I know you’re not going to use 5+ products over the course of a day. That would obviously take too much time from World of Warcraft grinding or stomping petulant teenage boys in Fortnight. My favorite games are Dead by Daylight, Super Smash Brothers: Ultimate and Valorant. Check me out on Twitch to watch my live-streams! No matter your game of choice, I have the perfect beginner routine for you!

The Tower Defense

This simple 3-step routine will dramatically impact your skin & gaming performance for the better. Healthy skin will lead to confidence in social interactions at your local competitions while also boosting your performance in matches. And if you’re on an e-sports team, you definitely want to have clear skin when representing brand partners. These products are multi-purpose in nature, meaning each one does a variety of things for your skin which is why you don’t need a lot of different products. Lastly, the products mentioned today will be good for ALL skin types. I’m trying to take out the guess work when it comes this routine, because I know you’re too busy creating a new world in Minecraft.

Level 1 Beginning Stage: Cleansing

Yes, I know this seems obvious, but it’s so important to be cleansing your face every single morning night before bed. For this step, we’re going with Paula’s Choice Hydrating Gel-To-Cream Cleanser ($18). PC’s cleansers are gentle in the way they remove dirt & oil from your skin while not being overly stripping. I love the consistency of it going from a soothing gel to a skin-softening foam right before your eyes. It’s loaded with antioxidants that will help strengthen your skin barrier, protecting it from environmental pollutants like smog, cigarette smoke, and car exhausts. And you haven’t seen smog until you’ve visited your local Smash tournament where no where wears deodorant! I kid… except not really.

Level 2 Intermediate Stage: Hydrate & Exfoliate

Using exfoliating products typically requires an intermediate level of understanding when it comes to skincare. However, PSA’s Heroine Mandelic & Licorice Glow Toner ($30) takes all the guess work out of it by being gentle enough to use every single day. This is a 6% blend of Mandelic & Lactic acids which will help to slowly penetrate the skin and gently remove the upper most layers of skin. With those upper layers being removed, this superhero product is able to combat acne & hyperpigmentation while also adding hydration & brightness to your overall complexion.

Level 3 Boss Stage: Moisturize & Protect

Moisturizing your skin every night is going to help to keep it soft, nourished and protected. The Stratia Liquid Gold ($27) is a lightweight moisturizer that helps to strengthen your skin barrier which is critical for proper skin functioning. Ceramides, niacinamide and sea buckthorn oil all have a role in helping to moisturize, repair and brighten. Out of every product in this routine, this is your workhorse that does most of the heavy lifting.

Lastly, for those gamers who actually dare to venture outside into the wild during the day, I’m recommending the Kroger Invisible Gel SPF40 ($11). If you’ve bought skins from Valorant, then you know there’s not enough room in the budget for overpriced sunscreens. This affordable selection will give you ample protection from the sun. Gamers typically have decent skin due to the lack of sun exposure, but if you are going outside, you need to be wearing sunscreen.

GLHF Gamers!

And there you have it! Skincare doesn’t have to be on the hardest difficulty setting. No fluff, no pomp and circumstance. Just products that will work for your lifestyle and will proactively work to cover a variety of skincare concerns.
